monsters can be designers too

an exploration of my creative practice

When I walked into Central Saint Martins for my undergraduate design course, I didn't realize a few other creatures would be joining me too, following my every footstep, all the way from my flat in Angel to my classroom, just as eager for their first day of school as I was.

This hardcover publication imagines my creative practice as five monsters: Scorpinim, Babblelina, Quicksilver, Adobe-phobe, and Svima. The monsters take shape through hand-dyed tissue paper and collage, and are brought to life by my own reflective writing. The publication itself is an act of child-like discovery; bound horizontally, the book opens vertically, curiously revealing the monsters who lurk between the pages.

“Adobe-phobe echoes a part of me that loathes technology, who wants to live as far away as possible from softwares and screens, and most of all, to escape my dreaded nemesis, Adobe.”
